Many Australians feeling the pitch from thecost-of-living crisisare looking for extra work.
Thousands of jobs will become available over the next few months as huge companies likeAmazonandAustralia Postgear up for a busy Christmas period.
Here's who has already put the call out for eager applicants.
Australia Post: 3,000 jobs
The delivery giant is looking to fill around 3,000 Christmas casual jobs throughout Australia, with the highest demand in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
Applicants with a valid forklift or truck licence are at the top of Australia Post’s wish list, with seasonal casual roles also available for freight handlers and parcel processors.
The casual roles have an adult pay rate starting from $31.85 per hour. Aussies can apply throughAustralia Post’s website, or careers website.
Executive general manager people and culture Susan Davies said Christmas casuals were critical in helping ensureAustralia Post deliveriesreached customers in time.
“As we approach our busiest time of year, we’re looking to bolster our workforce to ensure we can meet increased demand and maintain the high level of service Australians expect from Australia Post,” Davies said.
“Working in a seasonal casual role can also create opportunities to work with Australia Post beyond the end of the year.”
Amazon: 1,000 jobs
Amazonis also looking for 1,000 Aussie workers to help pick, pack and ship the influx of customer orders at fulfilment centres and logistics sites across the country.
Applications for the summer jobs are now open in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle and the Gold Coast, with no prior experience required.
Amazon Australia director of HR Jacqui Marker said the company would provide on-the-job training to successful candidates.
“Our seasonal roles are great for those who want something shorter term, like students on their summer break, retirees looking to stay active, or someone who may have had time off and is wanting to get back into the workforce to earn some extra money,” Marker said.
Pay for fulfilment-centre workers starts at $30.80 an hour, while logistics-site workers start at $30.99 an hour, plus penalties for working night, early-morning or weekend shifts.
