The government has launched a new South Australian Veteran Employer Network to help support veterans and their partners in securing meaningful employment.
In a significant move to support veterans and their partners in securing meaningful employment after their service, the Government has announced the launch of the South Australian Veteran Employer Network.
This innovative program aims to bring together a diverse group of South Australian businesses, both in the private and public sectors, to collaborate and create opportunities for veterans within the workforce.
We want more businesses to be aware of the great opportunities that come with employing veterans and the diverse skill sets they can bring, Minister for Veterans Affairs Geoff Brock says.

Veterans SA, the organisation spearheading this initiative, has envisioned a network that not only connects like-minded employers but also educates them about the substantial benefits of hiring veterans and their partners. One of the key features of the network is the sharing of candidate details among its members, thereby facilitating more veterans and their partners in securing employment that aligns with their expertise.
Employers who are part of the South Australian Veteran Employer Network can also avail themselves of mentoring and guidance in areas such as recruitment, workplace support, and cultural awareness, making the transition to hiring and retaining veterans a smoother process. To foster engagement and create opportunities, the network has planned regular bi-monthly networking events for 2024.
It has been exciting to work with employers from different sectors to establish the South Australian Veteran Employer Network, Veterans SA Director Chantelle Bohan says.
The network is a unique connector, facilitating collaboration between employers, where there is no competition between members and the group’s sole focus is meaningful outcomes for the veteran community.
We look forward to working with the network to shape positive employment outcomes and invite other organisations with a genuine interest to reach out to us if this initiative is something they can contribute to or benefit from.
The State Government has taken a holistic approach to support veterans in their transition from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and to cater to the needs of their families. Every year, over 6000 veterans transition from the ADF, bringing specialised qualifications, technical expertise, and transferable skills in leadership, discipline, teamwork, and the ability to thrive under pressure to the civilian job market.
