About the role
In this role you will be required to:
Prepare early close and year-end financial statements and related entities and respond to audit queries relating to the financial and other audit matters.
Assess and interpret the impact of changes in Australian Accounting Standards, Treasury publications and other legislative or technical information for application of relevant changes to accounting and financial reporting.
Prepare Treasury ledger reconciliations and other Treasury compliance reports.
Prepare the monthly fixed assets reconciliation between the General Ledger (GL) and the Fixed Asset register and clear unreconciled balances.
Manage month end accounting entries, prepare, and check journal entries, maintain controls, and reconcile balance sheet items.
Determine accounting procedures and implement accounting treatments for each division to ensure they comply with all financial information recording and compliance requirements.
Provide ad-hoc advice and assistance on financial information, budgetary and reporting matters to frontline staff, Division heads and budget managers and other members of the Finance team.
Essential requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Commerce, or related discipline / demonstrated equivalent experience.
Experience in SAP or other ERP systems and strong Excel skills.
Professional accounting qualifications –Full or Associate membership of CAANZ or CPAA is preferred Work experience in financial reporting matters; experienced in providing technical accounting advice including preparing accounting papers.
Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, including the latest current and future developments.
