Responsibilities:
Collaborate with a cross-functional team including Software Engineers, Product Managers and Mechanical Engineers to automate and manage critical infrastructure
Design and implement infrastructure solutions for scalability, reliability, high availability, performance, security, software maintainability, and operational excellence
Manage a growing fleet of remote Linux devices that gather data from equipment in buildings
Ensure all automation is implemented in a clear and maintainable fashion
Experiment with new technology and provide feedback on its usefulness to help define the infrastructure tech stack
Help the junior team members build their skills and confidence
Estimate level of effort during sprint planning, and offer suggestions for best approaches for design and implementation
What you need for this position:
Hands-on experience with the automation of management of infrastructure hosted in public cloud offerings (AWS components like EC2, CloudFormation, RDS, S3, SQS - or equivalents, e.g. in GCP / Azure)
Experience using container systems like Docker
Experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g. Ansible, CloudFormation, Puppet)
Ability to automate routine tasks, especially for infrastructure management and monitoring
Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, consistently contributing to a culture of operational maturity
Willingness and ability to learn rapidly
Excellent communication skills
Attention to detail and desire to produce high quality results
Not required, but a bonus:
Experience with AWS
Experience with Database administration; Managing RDS/Postgres infrastructure will be highly valued
Experience in operating a platform built using microservice architecture
Experience in operating and monitoring large scale distributed systems
