Requirements:
Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements) Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces Perform MIG, TIG and other types of weld based on project needs Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead) Select proper fillers for jobs based on previous experience or project instructions Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture Field install welds, including duct work, light fixtures, vents, fans, metal sheeting and other parts Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety Working during inclement weather, could be exposed to extreme cold and heat, noise and dust from construction operations depending upon project site. Perform general construction labour to include jobsite clean-up and moving of materials by hand. Constant, gripping of objects Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 25kg of material and up to 50kg of material with assistance, if requested. Frequently walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching and climbing stairs and ladders Frequent use of hand and power tools. Work requires alert individuals with good balance and physical strength. Work on a wide variety of jobs including commercial and industrial developments, multi-storey housing and civil engineering projects like roadwork’s, tunnels and bridges
