About the role
This is an Observability position for a highly skilled individual. You will play a key role in Onboarding of a large-scale Metrics based Monitoring solution for various critical traditional compute environments, private cloud Observability initiatives in the enterprise. Focus is on systems and application monitoring (log, metrics events), covering existing and open-source monitoring tooling, as well as public cloud monitoring services.
You will be responsible for leading the building and operation of Optus IT Elasticsearch and Dynatrace platforms and plays an active role in gathering of both business and technical requirements, design and development of new business dashboards and configurations that deliver meaningful insights to key stakeholders.

About you Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or related. Advanced cerrtification, knowledge and experience in a recognized ITSM framework e.g. ITIL Knowledge and experience in Elasticsearch framework 10+ years of experience with IT and integration engineering 3+ years of experience in Dynatrace with Davis engine, synthetic URL monitoring Hands on experience in one or more data technologies (e.g Elasticsearch or Splunk) Hands on experience in Linux / UNIX Cloud VM Hands on experience in scripting Python, UNIX Shell, Perl Extensive experience in working with time series data, as well as critical application metrics e.g. java JMX, thread pools, GC, etc Understanding of data modelling techniques Hands on experience in data visualization using Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk Hands on experience with querying languages (KQL, SQL, NoSQL, Lucene). Extensive experience in APM (application performance monitoring) Experience in web and application server setup and administration on RHEL, including Apache web server, JBoss AS and Websphere AS Experience with an APM tool such as Dynatrace (APM and Synthetics), New Relic, AppDynamics, or Datadog. Experience with cloud monitoring in AWS or Azure Experience with recommending baseline monitoring thresholds, recommending performance monitoring KPIs and SLAs Hands on experience with Machine Learning Models Possess the ability to exercise independent and effective judgment Strong analytical skills, meticulous, energetic, innovative, able to work well in a team and under pressure A good team player and able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move towards consensus.
