Tasks and duties: Consulting with management, stakeholders, clients and users to determine requirements. Developing business cases and mapping business processes. Tracking the progress of a project, resolving issues, and providing updates to stakeholders. Overseeing the implementation of systems, working closely with technical team members. Developing operations performance reports. Ensuring the continuous delivery of business information systems solutions that align with strategic goals.
Advantage but not mandatory: Complete a degree in information technology, information systems or business information systems such as a Bachelor of Business Information Systems. Alternatively, if you hold a business or non-technical degree, pursue a short course or certification in business analysis. Many Business Systems Analysts specialise in a particular industry sector, such as finance, procurement, IT, human resources, or communications.
