About the Role: Based in Forestville, this is an opportunity to make a big impact working for a successful, market leading IT Service Provider. This Senior Systems Engineer role will focus on the Networking and Security requirements of our clients. You will contribute to a collaborative team environment with a focus on inbound / outbound issues of Subnet’s client base providing timely and precise technical services. In addition to contributing to regular services work, the role demands the ability to deliver on complex infrastructure across a broad knowledge in various areas of IT, particularly focused on our core offerings of Networking, Wireless and Security Technologies. This position will be working within the Services Team to provide excellent customer service in a variety of IT requirements, from taking escalations from lower-level support and ensuring our managed clients have their technical support requirements fulfilled, through to project work and the potential for consulting. The base salary range for this position is $90 to $110k per annum commensurate with experience. Subnet provides a range of benefits and bonus’s in addition to base salary.
What you’ll be doing: • Analyzing, developing, interpreting and evaluating complex system design and architecture specifications, data models and diagrams in the development, configuration and integration of computer systems • Researching, analyzing, evaluating and monitoring network infrastructure to ensure networks are configured to operate at optimal performance • Assessing and recommending improvements to network operations and integrated hardware, software, communications and operating systems • Providing specialist skills in supporting and troubleshooting network problems and emergencies • Installing, configuring, testing, maintaining and administering new and upgraded networks, software database applications, servers and workstations • Providing network programming in support of specific business needs and requirements • Preparing and maintaining procedures and documentation for network inventory, and recording diagnosis and resolution of network faults, enhancements and modifications to networks, and maintenance instructions • Monitoring network traffic, and activity, capacity and usage to ensure continued integrity and optimal network performance • Subnet prides itself on being an employer of choice and on our customer service. We strive towards reduction of repeat issues and solving the root cause of a problem. • Networking including the support and implementation of: o Network Infrastructure including Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Wireless o Focused on Cisco / HP / Fortinet technologies • Security solutions including the support and implementation of: o Network Infrastructure including Next Generation Firewalls (both virtual and physical) o Fortinet based applications including FortiAnalyser / FortiManager / FortiSIEM o Endpoint Detection and Response solutions including CrowdStrike Falcon, Airlock Digital o Network Vulnerability Testing Appliances including Tenable Nessus o Focused on Cisco / Fortinet technologies • Maintaining a high billable utilisation through efficient delivery of services. • Supporting the delivery of the Services Department strategic milestones.
What you’ll bring to us: • Previous experience with services integration in a system support role or similar position. • Demonstrated experience fielding all levels of support calls from customers in proactive and reactive environments. • Strong ability to quickly identify and diagnose issues logically in a short time frame with excellent problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills. • Superior interpersonal skills particularly in client management and the ability to take ownership of client issues. • A willingness to develop your technical skills to progress your professional career. • A positive attitude and an understanding of the importance of positive company culture and values. • A current driver’s license. • A demonstrated attitude of ownership and accountability • Vendor Professional / Expert Certification in one or more industry-standard fields of expertise primarily with Networking and Security. Knowledge, experience, and certification in other key areas of Information Technology are highly regarded.
