Job Title: Computer Network and Systems Engineer
Position Overview The successful candidate will deploy tests and optimise network and system services, taking responsibility for configuration management and overall operational readiness of network systems, especially environments with multiple operating systems and configurations, and provides troubleshooting and fault-finding services for network problems including voice over IP telecommunication systems.
Skills, Qualifications and Attributes • 3 years IT experience in administering and supporting multiple & single domain environments • Microsoft Certification • Master of Information Technology (Computer Networking) • Expert in End user Compute (Desktop Troubleshooting in Domain Environments) • Hands-on experience with Network devices including Routers and Switches • Technical ability to resolve complex incidents within windows server environments • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Backup Applications and VMware • Solutions focused with proven stakeholder engagement • Installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of Network infrastructure and application components to ensure the business goals are met • Provides direction, information, and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations
Technical work Experience • Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Small Business Servers. • VMware ESX experience and accreditation preferred. • Strong Network Support and configuration skills, including switching and routing (HP). • Experience in Sophos End Point Solutions is an advantage
Tasks Include: • Analysing, developing, interpreting and evaluating complex system design and architecture specifications, data models and diagrams in the development, configuration and integration of computer systems • Researching, analysing, evaluating and monitoring network infrastructure to ensure networks are configured to operate at optimal performance • Assessing and recommending improvements to network operations and integrated hardware, software, communications and operating systems • Providing specialist skills in supporting and troubleshooting network problems and emergencies • Installing, configuring, testing, maintaining and administering new and upgraded networks, software servers and workstations • Providing network programming in support of specific business needs and requirements • Monitoring network traffic, and activity, capacity and usage to ensure continued integrity and optimal network performance • Engineering support • Staff management for Spirit client’s staff & vendors delivering services • Break-fix and BAU IT related support • Faculty user training as needed • Deskside Support • Provide leadership and mentoring • Continual Service Improvement
