Responsibilities:
Provide a geotechnical service to the mine through understanding, complying, mentoring, and liaising with business partners to promote full statutory compliance both for the mining regulations and company safety objectives;
Daily production tasks relating to geotechnical engineering including review of development plans, blast plans, documentation of inspections and data collection, geotechnical monitoring, seismic monitoring, stability analysis, recommendations, and QAQC;
Collects and evaluates geotechnical parameters to ensure future mining recommendations are forthcoming when required;
Capable of running geotechnical aspects of a mine, including paste management with some input from other senior staff and undertaking work for medium-term projects;
Actively identify and manage geotechnical risks and the development of systems to monitor and manage these;
Collaborate with the team to collect and review geotechnical data including effective recognition, investigation, and analysis of rock fall events and ground control issues;
Ensure that the geotechnical life of mine contributions is of the highest quality by determining design parameters, modelling, and advising on the most appropriate mine design and sequence including future mine projects.
Requirements:
Possess a bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geology with Post Graduate qualifications in Geomechanics preferable.
Extensive experience displayed in Geotechnical Engineering, preferably in both underground and open pit mining environments, or good experience in underground with a keen interest to learn about open pit geotechnical methods.
Good knowledge of relevant statutory obligations.
Sound experience using Deswik, Rocsience™ suite, and Numerical modelling packages
