R&D Algorithms Engineer
The R&D Algorithm Development team plays a key part in the development of our world-leading wavelength-selective switch (WSS) and related optical products. We work in a dynamic environment and with a high level of cooperation with other engineers and scientists in the wider R&D group.
As an R&D team member you will develop cutting-edge calibration and optimisation algorithms, and help with the translation of our exciting new products from early prototype testing phases through to automated production systems.
About the role
Develop creative optimisation algorithms and implement these into high quality software Transfer the new routines from validation through to production, typically using Python and LabVIEW development platforms Use the latest data science and machine learning tools on the large amounts of data we generate to achieve insights and help develop great products There are opportunities for hands-on experimentation with prototype devices in our well-equipped R&D lab
What we are looking for
Qualifications in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science, at a bachelor’s degree or higher level Strong mathematical and analytical skills In-depth knowledge of a topic in optics, photonics, physical modelling, or signal processing Experience implementing algorithms in programming languages such as Python, LabVIEW or C/C++ Strong coding skills and understanding of the software engineering fundamentals such as object oriented design and data structures A willingness to experiment rapidly, master the details, and bring tasks to completion Strong interpersonal and communications skills
