Responsibilities: • Lead working groups conducting technical arbitration between System of System, Subsystems and transverse teams (Safety, Security, Human Factors) and the constraints they place on the system design. • Contact with the customer on technical issues including evolutions to the solution baseline.
• Responsible for stabilising and maintaining the solution architecture throughout its lifecycle in cooperation with the SEMs and PDA. • Ensure the solution architecture is optimised to address the real need through: o Bringing to the foreground the key architectural drivers o Exploring the solution space to define a set of alternate candidate architectural concepts and perform related trade-offs ensuring all design alternatives are recorded and decisions justified o Perform early validation of the architecture including modelling and proof of concept activities to de-risk • Develop Architectural Viewpoints to: o Define the system breakdown o Lead the interface definition and arbitrate technically between the various contributors (whether internal or external) o Describe the system behaviour through functional flows and identifying dependencies between system components • Specify Technical Performance Measurements (TPMs) and support their validation throughout the lifecycle of the project • Document architecture in required artefacts (E.g. Product Breakdown Structure and System of System Design Documentation). • Support the Project Design Authority (PDA) and the Systems Engineering Manager (SEM) in the approval of the main engineering reviews and deliverables. • Review key SoS solution design including Infrastructure, Platform, Safety, Security and Human Factors artefacts ensuring that the constraints imposed by the system requirements on the design are understood and met. • Ensure and demonstrate that the defined architecture meets the requirements taking into consideration: o Performance o Safety o Security o Human Factors o ILS o Contractually applicable legislation, rules and regulations including Environmental/HSE requirements and standards. • Contribute to the development of Architecture Policies, Processes and Procedures to ensure best practice. • Provide mentoring and support to all personnel involved in architecture activities.
