Ideally, candidates should have around three years of relevant experience as a spray painter or blaster. Key skills include knowledge of paint mixing, spraying techniques, surface preparation, and applying finishes. The ability to work according to specifications, mix two-part paint coatings, and select appropriate tools like brushes, rollers, and spray nozzles is essential.
Candidates should be familiar with Wet Film Thickness Gauges and achieving the required dry film thickness. The role involves working at heights and in confined spaces, erecting scaffolding, and maintaining clean work areas. Additional tasks include meeting with clients or supervisors to discuss design choices, applying masking tape, and inspecting coatings after they dry. Following safety guidelines and working both independently and in a team environment are necessary. Strong hand-eye coordination is also important for success in this role.
